How Do I Maintain Accreditation?

See below for the steps required to maintain certification or for re-accreditation once your accreditation has expired.

Certification

SmartRugby Certificate 

Junior Player Pathway Certificate 

  • This certificate is ongoing and does not require renewal

Foundation Certificate 

  • This certificate is ongoing and does not require renewal

Re-Accreditation

Level 1 Coach 

  • Have current SmartRugby certification,
    and
  • Pass a Law and Safety Update Exam (90%)

    and
  • Sign Code of Ethics agreement and send to NSWRU,
    (DOWNLOAD: Click to download the Code of Ethics Agreement),
    and
  • Demonstrate active coaching in at least 2 of the previous 4 years (letter to this effect required from relevant club/school/union), or if this cannot be demonstrated then successfully complete a Level 1 Coach competency assessment.

Level 2 Coach 

  • Have current SmartRugby certification,
    and
  • Pass a Law and Safety Update Exam (90%)

    and
  • Sign Code of Ethics agreement and send to NSWRU,
    (DOWNLOAD: Click to download the Code of Ethics Agreement),
    and
  • Demonstrate active coaching in at least 3 of the previous 4 years (letter to this effect required from relevant club/school/union), or if this cannot be demonstrated then successfully complete a Level 2 Coach competency assessment.

Level 3 coach 

  • By invitation of the ARU only

Level 1 Referee 

  • Have current SmartRugby certification, and
  • Pass a Level 1 Referee Law Exam (90%) once every two (2) years, and
  • Successfully complete of a Level 1 Referee competency field test once every four (4) years

Level 2 Referee 

  • Have current SmartRugby certification, and
  • Have current Level 2 Touch Judge accreditation, and
  • Pass a Level 2 Referee Law Exam (90%), once every two (2) years, and
  • Successfully complete of a Level 2 Referee competency field test once every four (4) years

Level 3 Referee 

  • By invitation of the ARU only

Level 1 Touch Judge 

  • Pass a Level 1 Touch Judge Exam (90%) once every four (4) years

Level 2 Touch Judge 

  • Pass a Level 2 Touch Judge Exam (90%) once every four (4) years

Level 1 Referee Coach 

  • Pass a Level 2 Referee Law Exam (90%) once every two (2) years, and
  • Successfully complete a Level 1 Referee Coach competency field test once every four (4) years

Level 2 Referee Coach 

  • Pass a Level 2 Referee Law Exam (90%) once every two (2) years, and
  • Successfully complete of a Level 2 Referee Coach competency field test once every four (4) years

Level 3 Referee Coach 

  • By invitation of the ARU only
