NSW Rugby Union – Education & Training aims to improve the coaching standards across NSW. Our objective is to provide you with the relevant information and resources to assist you in your endeavours in becoming a coach in Rugby Union.
From coaching courses, accreditation's, drills/activities and employment opportunities, we hope to create an easy to navigate, up to date and comprehensive web page.

Qualifications & Accreditations
SmartRugby – to be a coach or referee in Australia SmartRugby is the minimum qualification required
Coaching Kids – this course is to give you activities and ideas to coach younger age groups
Foundation – gives participants the basic structure to coach and officiate. To gain an ASC Level 1, you must attend a Foundation course
Development – designed for senior coaches (+U16s). To gain an ASC Level 2, you must attend a Development Coach course
Performance – designed for coaches coaching elite or semi-elite. This course is run by the ARU and is the first step to obtaining a Level 3 in Coaching
Re-Accreditation – each qualification & accreditation has an expiry date, ensure you are aware of when yours expires
Further Coach Education
FutureTahs Coaching Series – for coaches wanting to gain further knowledge and activities on how to coach the Core Skills for Rugby Union
Waratah Ways – programs for clubs to have specialise coaching for their coaches held at their own club
Advanced Coaching Seminar – for coaches looking to gain the latest in coaching methodology from a range of guest coaches and specialists in their field
Advanced Coaching Program – for Level 2 coaches who would like to obtain the necessary skills to progress through to the Performance Coaching course (Level 3)
