In 2008 Adam Freier surpassed Phil Kearns as the most capped Waratah hooker and he is set to reach 100 provincial caps during 2009. Freier has missed just one Super Rugby match in the last five seasons.
Freier’s contribution at provincial level, where he has been part of four Super Rugby finals campaigns in seven seasons, has been rewarded by national selectors, establishing himself as a permanent fixture in Wallaby squads over the last two years.
Born in Sydney on 20 March 1980, Freier is the son of former Eastern Suburbs Rugby League player and coach Laurie Freier and is a graduate of Waverley College, from where he won Australian Schoolboy selection in 1997. His underage career was nothing short of outstanding, captaining his country at both U19 and U21 level. He went on to lead Australia A in 2005.
