Daniel Halangahu has been the Waratahs Mr. reliable over the past two seasons, lining up at flyhalf, centre, fullback and even wing since his debut in week one of 2006.

Man of the match for Sydney University in each of the past two Sydney club Rugby Grand Finals, Halangahu helped the Students to a third consecutive Premier Rugby title in 2007. He continued his fine form in the Mazda Australian Rugby Championship, leading the way in point scoring for the Sydney Fleet.

Born on 6 March, 1984 in Newcastle, Halangahu was educated at the King’s School, vice-captaining Australia at schoolboy level in 2002. He signed an Academy deal with the ACT the following year, representing Australia at U19 and U21 level, before signing with the Waratah Academy in mid 2005. His Academy stint wouldn’t last long, his performance on debut against Auckland seeing him quickly promoted to the Waratahs main squad.

While his on field development has seen him captain the Waratahs against Ulster A and play for the Prime Minister’s XV against Japan, off field Halangahu’s mature outlook has also come to the fore, the 23 year old spending part of the 2007/08 off season mentoring indigenous children in the Northern Territory.
