Matt Dunning is set to become the first front rower in more than 125 years of NSW Rugby to reach 100 appearances for his state, starting the 2009 season with 99 Waratah caps.
Dunning reinvented himself in 2008 by making a successful switch to tighthead, with his ability to now play successfully on both sides of the scrum seeing his stocks rise considerably.
Born on 19 December 1978 in Calgary, Canada, Dunning was educated at Sydney’s Northolm Grammar School, representing Australian Schools in 1996. Consecutive seasons with the Australian U21s in 1998-99 were followed by his state debut against Queensland in 2000 and his Super Rugby debut a year later.
His brother Casey has played Test Rugby for Canada, while his youngest brother Josh has represented Canada U21s and played alongside him in 2008 at Eastwood.
