Rob Horne’s first year out of school saw the teenager quickly rise to the leading echelons of Australian Rugby, finishing the season as the Waratahs starting outside centre.
Horne went on to provide Waratah fans with some of the highlights of 2008, with a try on his starting debut against the Force, and producing the tackle of the season on Sharks centre Francois Steyn in the Super 14 semifinal. The talented centre went on to represent Australia at the IRB Junior World Championship in Wales.
Born on 15 August 1989, Horne represented Australian Schoolboys in 2006 and 2007 and started 2008 with a Junior Waratahs contract. By February he had played for the Australia in the San Diego leg of the IRB Sevens, and by round four of the Super 14, Horne made his state debut against the Brumbies.
