Sekope Kepu enjoyed the best season of his career in 2008 with the prop going from an unknown to a Wallaby tourist.
Qualifying for a NSW Super 14 contract having been born in Sydney, the former New Zealand junior made his Waratah debut against the Highlanders in round four. As the 2008 season wound on, Kepu earned selection for Australia A, was a tryscoring revelation in Randwick’s charge to the Grand Final and earned a place in the Wallaby Sprint Tour squad.
A former No.8, Kepu captained the Wesley College 1st XV – the alma mater Jonah Lomu – in 2004, before switching to the front row in 2005 where he represented New Zealand at U17, U19 and U21 level and was a member of the Chiefs wider training group in 2005-07 before taking up an offer with the Waratahs.
