Timana Tahu’s first season of Rugby was eventful to say the least, with the rugby league recruit suffering an injury setback during the middle of the Super 14 before going on to representative honours.
Starting the season on the wing before injury struck, Tahu made his way back from the bench to earn selection in the Australia A side where he was one of the standout players of the IRB Pacific Nations Cup. That form earned Tahu his first Test cap against the All Blacks, before selection in the Wallabies Spring Tour squad, however another hamstring injury cut that tour short.
Born to an Aboriginal mother and Maori father in Melbourne on 16 October 1980, Tahu made his name as a rugby league star, playing 159 matches for Parramatta, Newcastle, NSW and Australia, scoring 102 first grade tries.
