An injury to Wallaby lock Nathan Sharpe will see Dean Mumm start his first Test against France in Brisbane on Saturday night.

Sharpe was ruled out after suffering a groin strain when he stumbled during training at Ballymore on Thursday.

"It's unfortunate but the injury is restricting Nathan, so the choice was made for us," said Wallaby coach Robbie Deans. "We gave it as much time as we could, to allow it to settle but, with the game just two days away, we had to make the call and move on."

Mumm, who can operate in either the second row or on the blindside flank, made his Test debut last month against Ireland and after also appearing from the bench last week against France, will start his first match in Wallaby colours tomorrow night.

With Mumm's promotion to the starting XV, Hugh McMeniman has been called onto the reserves bench after impressing for Australia A in their recent wins over Tonga and Fiji.

McMeniman will remain on the bench for Australia A pending fitness following the Test, with Mitch Chapman called in as cover.

Tickets for the Pacific Nations Cup match between Australia A and New Zealand Maori are available from www.ticketek.com.au .
