The future of Rugby talent in NSW has been highlighted this week with local players dominating the Australian Schools sides selected following the Novotel Australian Schools Championships in Canberra.

A 23-man Australian Schools A squad has been selected to take on Fiji in Sydney on 6 September, with 12 of the squad hailing from NSW.

A further seven players from NSW have been selected in the provisional Australian Schools squad, the highest representation from any state with five Queensland players included along with two from ACT and one from Western Australia.

The remaining players to feature in the Australian Schools squad will be selected following the Australian Schools A match.

The Test match between Australian Schools and Fiji Under 18 will be played at Suncorp Stadium on 13 September as the curtain raiser to the Bledisloe Cup.

The Kings Schools was the best represented NSW school, with three players selected in each squad.

It is the first time a Schools international has been held in conjunction with a Test match in Australia and marks the 35th anniversary since the first Schoolboys international in Australia.
