The Tahs started on the front with a try inside three minutes and never looked back in the seven tries to three win. It was the highest score the Waratahs have ever achieved against Waikato since their first clash in 1921, and the biggest margin as well.
Drew Mitchell added to his impressive tryscoring tally after two-and-a-half minutes with a brilliant breakout try starting 70 metres out and finishing with a kick and chase for the score.
The Tahs had their opportunities throughout the opening quarter however dominance in possession and field position didn't translate into points until the 23rd minute when Tom Carter put Ben Mowen through a gap with the No.8 beating the fullback to score under the posts.
Five minutes later the game stopped when Al Baxter found himself in a scuffle with opposite number Nathan White, with the Chiefs prop conceding a penalty inside his own half. The resulting lineout put the Tahs in great field position and another penalty provided the platform for Tatafu Polota-Nau to score his fourth try of the season from a driving maul.
In the 38th minute Berrick Barnes added a penalty to his solitary conversion of the first forty to send NSW to a 20-0 lead at the break.
Barnes then opened the second half by delivering the Tahs a bonus point with a 40m intercept after just 40 seconds after kick-off. His conversion put NSW out to a 27-0 lead, the biggest margin of the game.
In the 48th minute Kane Douglas was denied his first try in Waratahs colours when penalised in the attempt to score the try. And it was the Chiefs who ended up next on the scoreboard when Tim Nanai-Williams capitalised on a big overlap in the 61st minute.
Three minutes later Barnes read the play perfectly to grubber in behind the line for Kurtley to regather and score adjacent to the posts.
Four minutes on and it was Beale's turn to play provider after following a line-break with a deft kick to the corner allowing Lachie Turner to cross for his sixth try of the year.
As Chris Hickey cleared the bench, the visitors lost some of their cohesion with Jackson Willison scoring twice in the space of six minutes.
However it was fitting that the Tahs had the final say in the game with Mitchell finding space down the left flank before linking with Damien Fitzpatrick for the reserve hooker's maiden Super 14 try. Daniel Halangahu converted from the left touchline after the siren to take the score to 46-19 and deliver the Chiefs a season of defeats at Waikato Stadium.
The HSBC Waratahs fly home on Sunday ahead of Friday night's clash with the Hurricanes at the Sydney Football Stadium.
