Round three of the Shute Shield will see the undefeated Manly Marlins host the Parramatta in what Two-Blues coach Paul Hardwick believes will be a massive test for his side.
“Manly will be very, very tough to beat”, said Hardwick. “I think you’ve got to play against the best sides and there’s no easy games in the competition.”
Hardwick won’t come to the match empty handed after receiving a NSW Waratahs injection into the engine room.
“We should have Dave Lolohea, Senion Toleafoa…we are just hoping all things come through and that will certainly lift our boys.”
Despite the helping hand, the Parra coach is aware of what he and his side are walking into.
“Manly are well drilled and seeing them come off a couple of very good wins against Souths and against (Sydney) Uni”, explained Hardwick. “They are a bit of a juggernaut and I think they’ll be very tough to stop.”
With that in mind, Hardwick is confident his side is up to the challenge.
“Our ability to penetrate through the backline is something we didn’t have last year.
“This year, we’ve been able to do that quite well and I also think that some of the things we’ve done quite a bit better this year is ball control and being able to bend oppositions’ lines.
“Bounce of the ball on the day and a team like us could come away with a win.”
Manly will take on visitors Parramatta at Manly Oval, kick off 3:00PM AEST with the coverage live on 7TWO.
