NSW Country Rugby Union Grand Finals Begin

The NSW Country Rugby Union Grand Final season is underway with 11 regional grand finals to be decided across seven weeks.

The New England Zone kick started grand final season on August 12 with St Alberts College defeating Robb College, 37-29.

On the weekend of August 19, Hunter Women’s and Lower Mid North Coast contested their respective grand finals.

The Merewether Carlton women ran out winners over Newcastle Uni 34-12 at Newcastle Sportsground No. 2.

In the Lower Mid North Coast competition Wallamba narrowly edged out Forster Tuncurry Dolphins 15-14 to upset the Dolphins who have won the past few titles.

In the Upper Mid North Coast competition Southern Cross Uni beat Hastings Valley in an exciting 36-35 victory.

Whilst the Women’s Upper Mid North Coast competition finished with Port Macquarie women defeating Wauchope 15-0.

NSW Rugby Union Country Executive Officer Stephen O’Brien says ‘it’s the most wonderful time of the year.’

This weekend Avondale take on the Vikings in the Illawarra zone first grade Grand Final.

Whilst in the Central North Zone, Pirates and Walcha will play for the first grade title at Pirates Rugby Club.
