The NSW Junior Rugby Union and the Sydney Junior Rugby Union (SJRU) Regionals Tournaments will be held this weekend at Boronia Park, Hunters Hill.

The Tournament will serve as a trial for players hoping to be selected in the Sydney Juniors Under 15 and Under 16 representative sides and for the NSW Country Juniors in the Under 15’s.

Sydney Juniors will field four teams in each age group, drawing players from the  Southern, Northern and Western Zones of Sydney along with a Barbarians team of players selected from the greater Sydney region.

These four teams were selected from the recent NSW Junior Rugby Union State Championships.

NSW Country Juniors will field two teams, Country Gold and Country Black, in the Under 15’s age group. These players will be competing for selection in the Country U15’s representative team.

Also participating over the weekend is the U14s squad of SJRU U14s from which the SJRU U14’s team will be selected.

Lower age group players will also be trialling over the weekend with a Possible’s vs Probable’s match in the Under 14’s being played on Saturday with the SJRU representative team selected from that trial.

The team will then play against a NSW Country Under 14’s team on the Sunday.

The teams selected from these matches over the weekend will compete at the Annual City Country Gala Day to be held in Bathurst on Sunday August 6th.

The Boronia Park ground will also host a Girls Discovery trial to select 23 players in an U17’s age group team to play a 15-a-side game against NSW Country in Bathurst.
