Schools' rugby excursion to Forster Tuncurry for Coast to Country Cup

School rugby sides from all corners of NSW are set to make the trip to Forster Tuncurry next week to take part in the annual springtime invitational carnival, the Coast to Country Cup.

Now in its eighth year, the Coast to Country Cup draws a number of schools from all state regions to compete in the tournament held at the Forster Tuncurry Dolphins Rugby Club.

On deck will be 19 NSW Rugby Development Officers, staff and volunteers to cater to the Twelve U16’s and Ten U14’s sides who are to take to the Mid-North Coast from Tuesday, September 19th.

NSW Rugby Development Officer George Gargoulakis says that the upcoming Coast to Country Cup aims to include teams from all around the state.

“The Coast to Country Cup is a tournament for students at NSW schools from the bush to the beach,” said Gargoulakis. “The competition is a great way to get the wider rugby community to come together in a spot that a lot of kids have never been to before.

“The Dolphins Rugby Club will be a hive of activity with three fields hosting games simultaneously.

“It’s a great chance for the players to have crack on the field, while the parents can enjoy watching some footy in a great, seaside location.”

As a traditional XV’s competition, the Coast to Country Cup aims to incorporate more schools and students in the years to come.

“Down the track, it’d be great to have both boys and girls competing in the tournament,” said Gargoulakis.
