The NSW Country Rugby Union Grand Final season has concluded with the Newcastle Hunter Zone deciding their major winners over the weekend.

In the fourth grade Grand Final, Merewether Carlton won a close match against Muswellbrook, 12-7.

Wanderers and Maitland Blacks squared off in the third grade final which saw Wanderers walk away winners, 20-8.

A penalty at the death provided an exciting finishing in the second grade final between Merewether Carlton and Wanderers.

Merewether Carlton stole victory with a 45m penalty kick to win the match 20-19.

The first grade Grand Final was between Hamilton Hawks and Wanderers.

The Hawks proved far too strong for the Wanderers, running away 45-12 winners.

NSW Rugby Union Chief Executive Officer Andrew Hore was on hand to watch the Newcastle Hunter Zone Grand Finals.

“It was a great community event to finish off a successful season for all the clubs involved,” he said.

Last month, the Newcastle Hunter Zone Women’s competition decided their major winner.

The Merewether Carlton Women defeated Hunter Women’s Rugby Union, 34-12.
