Rugby Development In Secondary Schools

NSWRU has a continuing and growing interest in high school sport.

We see Rugby as a means by which we can assist teachers and parents by engaging students in an active sport that will assist their development as young adults.

Rugby is well known in some quarters and many see it as synonymous with elite private schools - but this only part of the story.

We are looking to make Rugby the winter sport of choice across all schools.

There are a number of existing competitions (regular and knockout) conducted during winter. We are looking to increase the number of schools and the number of teams that compete…

  • mid-week regular competitions in local area groups
  • representative team trials
  • knock out competitions
  • gala days

An education oriented program "EdRugby" provides teachers with classroom lesson plans that cover a range of learning areas using Rugby as a common and interesting theme.

To learn more about EdRugby and to get your school involved in Rugby all you have to do is call NSW Rugby Union (02 8354 3310) and we can direct you to your nearest NSW Rugby Project Officer who will help you to design a program and get it happening.
